About Compressors

Introduction

Compressor Nowadays compressors are being used on landscaping, industrial and building sites because they offer power to tools, rock drills and hammers. The power is provided by natural oil & free air which is generated by a compressors liquid cooled diesel powered engine which operates at a low speed. Compressors are similar to pumps as pumps transform a liquid pumping it else where, where as a compressor pumps air to where it is needed.

Gas Compressors

Gas compressors are defined as a mechanical machine which compresses gas to lower its volume. By decreasing the volume of gas it increases the pressure of gas which is powered though a compressor to be used for applications such as:

  • Powering Landscaping tools
  • Powering Gas operated tools
  • In Residential Home refrigerators and air conditioners to transport heat
  • On landscaping sites to reduce heat pressure in the area surround
  • On building and construction sites to generate hot air
  • On diesel powered machinery engines such as: tractors, loaders, pumps and concrete mixers.

Types of Compressors

Compressor Compressors are used vigorously in many different fields such as: landscaping, residential housing, building and construction sites for the main reasons of compressing air to generate several different machines, tools and operational equipment.

Rotary Screw Compressors

A rotary screw compressor consists of rotating mesh helical screws which force the air or gas supply into a confined space. They are generally used on industrial, building and landscaping applications due to the fact they this type of compressor can be stationed in a particular spot or it is portable which can be moved around for much needed convenience on landscaping and building sites. The types of landscaping air tools which a compressor powers are:

  • Drills
  • Nail Guns
  • Rock Drills
  • Sander
  • Glue Guns
  • Blower
  • Staple Gun
  • Air Grinder
Compressor Accessories

This type of compressor is predominately seen to be used by landscaping crews who are constructing hard surfaces using air tools. The rotary screw compressor is powered in low pressure and high pressure stages and can reach 1200psi.

Reciprocating Compressor

Compressor The reciprocating air compressor is used for general purposes such as; automotive work, landscaping air tools, building and construction air tools. It is a portable compressor which needss to be plugged into an electrical outlet to operate. The machine is powered by an internal combustion engine or an electric motor depending on the model and size. The use of reciprocating compressors is declining fast due to their expensive operating fees. They are able to start at 5 Hp and increase to 1000Hp again depending on the model and size. The reciprocating compressor is typically operated for continuous use.

The Output Pressure of a Compressor

General landscaping and construction air powered tools require as little as 5 hp to operate. Landscaping contractors or building contractors will find a portable compressor come in handy for powering their air tools. The output pressure of an air compressor will generally range from model to model. Staring output pressure should begin at 5hp and increase to 1000hp depending on the application it is needed for.
Compressors

Amongst residential properties the output pressure should be used at a low rank and for larger building sites it can be used to the full capacity. Low and high pressure switches are located on all compressors therefore the operator is able to determine the level of output pressure which is required.
