About Catchers

Introduction

Gone are the days when you have to physically cut the long grass by hand with scissors to maintain the appearance of your lawns to a suitable length on your property. Lawn mowers were introduced to society during the 20th century. At first, when lawn mowers were invented there was no catcher attached to the back of the lawn mower. Even though the general public were thrilled about the invention of lawn mowers, but whilst mowing the lawns all the cut grass and clippings still had to be manually raked and dispersed of.

Mower with Catcher Catchers were invented to rid of the problem for when the lawns are mowed the catcher that is attached to the lawn mower will catch the maximum amount of grass automatically. The importance of catchers has made mowing the lawns much easier and the mowed lawns look more appealing and presentable due to the clean and tidy finish on completion because of the catcher catching the cut grass instantly as you are mowing the lawns.

The Benefits of Catchers

The main benefit of catchers is that they are less time consuming when mowing lawns and the fact that you don’t need to rake up the grass, leaves and other debris from your lawns is a well time saver. The other benefits of catchers are there are many different sizes, models and materials that they are produced from. You can select a catcher for a basic hand pushed lawn mower or a ride on mower for suburban properties to a large catcher that can be attached to a tractor for agricultural purposes as well as acreage on large land and farms. The other great benefit of larger catchers is that they can be attached to a tractor on the front, side or the back depending on what position is required for mowing and easy grass flow.

Ride-On Mower

Mower Catcher Most catchers are well designed and made to allow easy air flow because of the ventilation that is inbuilt in the frame of the catchers. Catchers will also minimize the effect of dust whilst mowing and divert the fumes from the exhaust to the airflow that flows downwards from the catcher. Catchers are made from sturdy and long lasting materials such as steel and specialized hard plastic and heavy duty nylon. These materials are durable, versatile and will last a long time. Very little maintenance is required except for removing catcher and hosing down for any grass that maybe still in the catcher after emptying.

Helpful and Handy Tips on Safety

The first priority of mowing lawns is there should be no little children playing in the area you want to mow as this will prevent any accidents occurring. Another helpful tip is making sure you clear the area for mowing from any rocks, stones or any obstacles that may damage your lawn mower and catcher.
Freshly Cut Lawn

Catchers need to be emptied during the process of mowing your lawns, especially if the area has long grass. Turn the lawn mower off to remove the catcher for emptying is always a safer thing to do. Many homeowners recycle the cut grass from the catcher to their vegetable gardens and flowered gardens as mulch for nutrients.
