Waste Water Most suburban residents water wastes are treated by the Water Treatment Plant and don’t really have any concerns. As to farmers and some remote residential locations might not have the luxury like suburban residents when it comes to waste water treatment. The majority of such locations have a septic tank system that collects all their water wastes.

Waste Water Treatment Stages

There are three stages to treat water wastes that are released from residential properties and other locations, they are as follows

  • Preliminary Stage
  • Primary Stage
  • Secondary Stage
  • Final Treatment Stage
The preliminary treatment stage in a Water Treatment Plant is to screen out and to remove and separate any solid substances or any existing debris to protect the treatment pump and equipment. Most solids and debris that are initially collected from the pump system are mostly disposed of in a landfill.
Waste Water Treatment

The second stage in treatment waste water plants is the primary stage. The primary stage is when the water wastes such as grease, sludge, solids and oil are also separated after the wastes have settled in a holding tank, the grease and oil substances will flow to the top of the tank, where as solid particles settle in the bottom after a few hours then the bottom is skimmed off as part of the primary stage treatment.

Treating Waste Water The secondary treatment stage is a biological process which removes and dissolves all waste water organic matters and any harmful substances or organs that are present. This treatment involves and cultivates micro- organisms which are added to the waste water. The secondary treatment is also accomplished by fixed filming and suspended filming in waste water treatment.

Final Treatment for Waste Water

The final process of treatment waste water is the main focus of the final stages of removing all bacterial and diseases causing organisms that are still present in the waste water. This process is treated by disinfectants and chlorine that are added to the treated waste water before discharge. Ultraviolet lighting is also another process as a final treatment before water is discharged. The last and final stage of waste water treatment is often when a chemical that is added to the treated waste water is a chlorine- neutralizing substance before water is discharged from the Waste Water Plant.
