They are a great gift idea for weddings and house warming parties. Any position of the home they are situated in will be brightened with the plants unique beauties.

How To Water Rubber Tree Plants

Rubber Tree Plant Rubber tree plant care begins with a good watering system. These house plants should be watered with normal tap water once a week continuously. Plant owners can determine if they are watering their plant too much by checking the soil conditions. If the plant is being watered right then the top layer of the soil should be moist not soaked. Even if the soil is dry its ok because the plant thrives off dry soil. Too much water will cause the plant to over grow its pot and even end up with root disease and eventually die. Keep the plant reasonably moist during summer and spring and relatively dry during winter and autumn.

Fertilizing

Generally house plants do not need to be fertilized regularly but the rubber tree plant should be fertilized every 2 weeks. There is a special solution which is designed purely for rubber tree plants. It contains vital nutrients to help the house plant grow as it should. The solution is a fertilizer liquid which should be given to the plant every 2 weeks instead of water. If your plant is thriving off the fertilizer then it should only be fertilized once a month. Plant carer's will determine the amount of fertilizer their plant needs by its growth pattern.

Light and Shade

Rubber Tree Plant Whilst all house plants thrive off direct sunlight to absorb it and create energy, the rubber tree plant loves light and shaded areas. This plant loves bright light but not the heated sunlight. Keep it in a corner of the home where it will receive enough sunlight but also shade. When new leaves are growing on the plant then it should be taken out of the light and kept in a more shaded area of the home. It is wise to keep your rubber tree plant out of direct wind zones and draftee areas to as these conditions are not suitable for this type of tree plant.

Pruning and Trimming

Although rubber tree plants are house plants they still require pruning and trimming to ensure they do not over grow inside the home. If the plant is getting out of control then it is advised that the leaves and stems should be pruned or trimmed back. The freshly cut areas will grow healthily. If leaves are dying then they should be cut off to allow for new growth to appear.
