The General Purpose of Electrical Enclosure
Electrical enclosures are designed to be used on residential and domestic home, commercial buildings and public areas. There are several different types of electrical enclosures available today.
Its main purposes is to enclose electrical wires, securing them away from daylight, water and other hazardous materials which may affect the working life of the electrical materials situated in the enclosure.
Some common areas where electrical enclosures are seen are on power lines and shopping centers. Electrical enclosures seen in these areas are normally used to hold the main electricity source and all of the switches. At your home you should have an electrical enclosure outside or inside your home which is your main power switch board. In the event of a blackout or storm you will take a trip to your electrical enclosure to see whether a fuse is blown and you may even need to reset the power board.
When you are doing electrical work around your home you should always check your electrical enclosure and make certain that all the main power is switched off before doing so.
Types of Electrical Enclosures
There are various types of electrical enclosures. They each define a different purpose and area of use. Let us now discuss several different types of electrical enclosures.

Road Enclosures
Road enclosures have been generally designed to monitor and control vehicle traffic. They are also used for control applications. They have been designed out of the toughest steel products to ensure they will not be affected by vandals, lighting strikes and harsh weather conditions. They also offer overload protection in case of an emergency.
Stainless Steel Enclosures
These enclosures are heavy duty built enclosures which are mostly suited to industrial applications. They range from small boxes to relatively larger boxes which can also be used for residential applications where high strength enclosures are needed. They can be used as terminal boxes along coastal areas. They have been designed to be undamaged by the sea’s salt water. A common problem which occurs in outdoor enclosures along coastal water is the metal which the box is built out of corrodes and loses it color due to the sea water. Stainless steel enclosures will not be affected by the sea water.
