Landscape Maintenance - Fertilizer Equipment
About Fertilizer Equipment
Introduction
Within the farming, agriculture, and landscaping industry fertilizing is one of the most important applications needed to provide flowers, plants, crops and trees with nutrients and minerals to obtain healthy growth. During the hot summer months they may lack nutrients, minerals and water because of the harsh weather conditions. Colder months of the year produce frost which is a damaging agent for crops, plants and trees. By keeping crops, gardens and landscaping fertilized right throughout the year will prevent the complete loss of crops and plants and ensure that they all receive enough nutrients to protect themselves from this harsh weather we receive today.
| Fertilizer is made available in 2 major categories which are organic and inorganic. Organic fertilizers are comprised of all natural products including: animal manure, wood fibres and decomposed plantation. Inorganic fertilizers are made of chemicals such as ammonium nitrate which is a great plant nutrient. One vital part of fertilization is having the right fertilizer equipment to help make the job simple and efficient. There are many different types of fertilizer equipment available today suitable for smaller or larger applications. |

Ground Drive Spreaders
 |
Ground drive spreaders are a type of fertilizer equipment which can be attached to a tractor or vehicle fitted with a tow bar. The top of the spreader features a large hopper which is able to hold several kilos of fertilizer. The fertilizer is then released from the hopper and down into the spreading rotary which then disperses the fertilizer onto the application site. This piece of fertilizer equipment is suitable for large areas containing crops and plants. It is an efficient machine which provides no wastage. Water can also be stored in the ground drive spreader and it can be released also with the fertilizer to ensure the soil beneath the crops retains the fertilizer as well as moisture. |
Rotary Blenders
| Rotary blenders are a type of fertilizer equipment which can be used to blend fertilizer. The machine contains a large drum which is powered by a gearbox engine. The large drum can hold up to a ton of fertilizer and it will blend it to make it a smooth consistency. Granular fertilizer can be blended into a liquid material by using the rotary blender. This fertilizer equipment can also be mounted to a tractor and steered around the application area and let off the fertilizer with a spray. It can also be attached to a conveyer belt and transported into a spreader and ready for application. |

Poly Tanks
 |
Poly tanks are used to store unused or freshly made fertilizer which is not going to be used immediately. The fertilizer can come straight out of a blender or spreader and be stored straight away. This type pf fertilizer equipment is non corrosive and will not be affected by chemical fertilizers. Once fertilization is complete and there is plenty left over it can be stored straight into a poly tank and not be affected by the storing. Tanks come in a wide variety of sizes to suit special requirements. |
Sprayers
| If the fertilizer which is being used is in a liquid form then a sprayer is the perfect application method. Sprayers hold a gallon drum which the fertilizer is stored in and the drum is attached to a spray nozzle which can be controlled. The spray nozzle can be turned to high, medium, low or off for an effective application method. Sprayers are great for smaller applications such as: residential landscaping, gardens and vegetation. Sprayers can also be attached to garden hoses and water can be blended to help the application site to retain moisture and the fertilizer. |
