There are many ways to keep your pool water clean and a wide variety of tests to see if the pools pH levels, chlorine or salt levels are as they should be. During the winter months of the year when the swimming pool is not used often bacteria and fungi can develop if the pools water is not kept clean. Even during summer when the pool is mostly used bacteria and germs can infest the pools water. Germs and bacteria can cause illness to those who use the pool. This is why it is always important to properly maintain swimming pools with the right filtration, pumping and chemical systems.

With the build up of dirt, leaves and other materials causing havoc in the pool water this can easily cause damage to the purity of the water. Pool sand filters have been developed to assist with the cleansing of the pool water. Pool sand filters operate differently then pool cartridge filters. They are also designed differently. Sand filters operate to clarify purity in the pools water.

Pool Sand Filter Features

The tanks of the pool sand filters are made from materials which are non corrosive. They offer a maximum working pressure of 400kpa and the hydraulic systems in built to the sand filter allows water to be cleaned thoroughly as it passes through the filtering system. They are available in commercial and residential sizes to suit the size and depth of your pool. Another feature of the pool sand filter is that they are designed to be used with chlorine, salt or fresh water pools.

Pool Filter Inside the pool sand filter is sand which is top graded silica. The sand inside the filter operates the filter all the dirt and grime out of the pools water. As the sand collects more and more dirt the filter becomes more efficient and capturing more dirt. Another feature of a poll sand filter is the pressure gauge. The pressure gauge is designed to let homeowners know that the tank is full with collected dirt and grime from inside the pools water. The dirt and particles will need to be removed on a weekly basis or when the gauge is showing signs of fullness to ensure that the filter operates efficiently.

Pool Sand Filter Maintenance

Pool sand filters generally do not require a lot of maintenance. But they do incur minor problems. If your pool has filled with sand and it has not either blown in or come of the children’s feet then it may just be the filter. The filter will need to be emptied and repaired if this is the case to access and fix the problem this problem rarely occurs on pool sand filters.

Having good filtration, circulation and cleaning in your pool maintenance system will lead to fresh and clean water. If the pools water is not looking great then there may be an error. Aluminum sulphate can be added to the skimmer box of the pool to create a layer on top of the sand inside the pool sand filter to ensure it stays in its place. It is also a great cleaning product for the pools water. Chemical tests are great for the pool to see if the water is safe to swim in.
